Setup
This page gets Codex Helper running in your server, from adding the bot to unlocking Patron.
1. Add the bot
Section titled “1. Add the bot”Invite Codex Helper to your server. You need Manage Server or Administrator on the server to add a bot.
When Discord asks, grant the permissions it requests. The next section explains why the bot asks for Administrator.
2. Why the bot asks for Administrator
Section titled “2. Why the bot asks for Administrator”Codex Helper requests Administrator when you add it, and we recommend granting it.
- It can see every channel. The activity leaderboards read activity across the whole server. Without Administrator the bot only sees channels it was explicitly given access to, so your stats would be incomplete.
- No per-channel setup. You do not have to grant the bot access channel by channel to post, react, create Stat Dock voice channels, or manage leveling, KvK, and signup roles. It just works.
3. Try it
Section titled “3. Try it”Run /help in any channel where the bot can post. You will get a tier aware list of commands and a button to preview Patron features. Free commands like /pfp, /heal, and /xp work right away.
4. Unlock Patron
Section titled “4. Unlock Patron”Patron is unlocked per server with an active Patreon subscription.
- Subscribe on the Codex Helper Patreon.
- Link your Discord account to your Patreon account at patreon.com/settings/apps.
- In your server, with Administrator or Manage Server, run
/patreon verify.
5. Set the channels for Patron commands
Section titled “5. Set the channels for Patron commands”This step is required to use Patron commands. Patron commands only run in channels you allow with /channel. Until you add an allowed channel for a command group, that group will not work in any channel. Set an allowed channel for each Patron group you want to use. This also keeps your server tidy by keeping the commands where they belong. Review your settings any time with /config.
6. Let trusted members help (optional)
Section titled “6. Let trusted members help (optional)”You do not have to be a full server admin to manage the bot.
- Use
/configto set a Bot Admin role. Holders can manage the bot and sign in to the dashboard. - Use
/ark settingswith no alliance tag to set an Ark Admin role for officers who run signups.
